A beautiful piece. Love the eyes, which are so very lively and soulful, and the fur is quite lovely. It's super! Thank you too for your comment on my painting. Glad to have discovered your gallery.

Wonderful portrait, I think your technique is fab! I find it hard to do one dog never mind two in the one painting. Love their beards and the eyes are spot on.

Very precise brushwork has given the fur a convincing look. I like the simple background too. The highlight in the eyes may have looked better if it was placed at the upper right hand portion of the eye. Having said that, I am no expert on pet portraits and they still have that glossy look about them so well done.

Beautiful Peter, I love their expressions.

Thanks for all your lovely comments. Chris, the eye highlights were placed there because the light was directly behind me when taking the photo and showed the patio doors, I still appreciate your comments, please keep them coming.

Love the dogs.I am painting 4 dogs at the moment and always use watercolour. To answer your coment on my site, if i could paint still life in watercolour i would but cant get the same detail,so i use artisan watersoluble oils instead.happy painting.

Thank you Peter for your recent comments on "Paula's Cat". I remember your turtle painting which I really loved when you posted it. Love your technique; nice to find someone else who paints detail. You've got good depth in the fur and shadowing showing the body structure. Do you use black? I never do. I use either ultramarine and burnt umber or prussian blue and burnt sienna. You can get more shades that way.

Hi Peter, I see what you mean, mine must have been having a bad day. this painting is beautiful. I used to paint in acrylics but really wanted to learn to draw, so i put my paints away 18 months ago and started to learn to draw, dont know if I will go back to painting, I am enjoying the drawing so much.

Our two small girls, Mia and Izzy. I was a little apprehensive to start with, but enjoyed the results, would love any comments regarding my technique.
