Really like the composition and the way you've divided the background into those shapes, following the lines suggested by the stalks, and converging with the stripes on the base, drawing the eye to the oranges. Whether intended or intuitive, it works well.

Thanks Ian for your comments, I was wondering whether the blue was too strong and whether I needed something on the left to direct the eye back into the painting.
