This is a beautiful portrait of a beautiful dog.

Love the lighting on this picture, and great work on the fur. Love the Senna one as well

It's a wonderful painting, and your love for your dog shines through. I agree with you, they've had a terrible press: but it's the owners that should have suffered that - Rottweilers are extremely powerful dogs: if they're going to be a problem, they'll be a problem in a big way. So will large Alsatians, my own favourite breed, and other big, strong, intelligent dogs - if people won't make the effort to understand them, they shouldn't keep them. Few things make me angrier than the consequences for great dogs of stupid, ignorant, malevolent owners who aren't fit to own lawnmowers, never mind living creatures.... Here endeth the First Lesson. Artistically speaking, it's a great painting, accomplished with sensitivity; W & N Artist's acrylic is fairly expensive, but then it produces superlative results in the right hands. I expect you've also tried Daler Rowney's Cryla, a really impressive paint for full-bodied techniques, and perhaps Chromacolour, for lovely, clean, clear washes of pure colour. This generation is unlucky in its art critics, but fortunate in its paint-makers.

Thank you for the comments. Robert, sorry I took so long to answer and I don't know if you will see this but I agree with you about these dogs, it's down to people. As far as paint goes I use four types of acrylic. W & N Artists acrylics, Interactive Acrylics, Golden Open Acrylics and some normal acrylics for under painting.

This is a painting of my Rottweiler Sasha. I know they have a bit of a bad name but she is the sweetest dog you could meet. She loves hugs and sitting on my lap. I think she thinks she is a cat. I painted Sasha using Winsor and Newton artists acrylic on canvas. Its the only time I have used this paint.
