This is brilliant I love the texture and feeling in his eyes, like you I love my dog and would be so sad too loose him

What a wonderful painting. It is perfect to focus right in on the mirrors of Tara's soul. I have dogs and losing one is unbelievably painful, but I try to focus on all the lovely times we had together. Hopefully you will be able to look at this portrait and feel the same.

This will be a lovely memory of your beloved dog. I don't have dogs but two cats and I can't imagine myself without them, but that is life! Lovely sad expression in her eyes and fur texture is great.

you made the old upper lip tremble a bit there - I have photos and drawings of my old dog, but still can't quite bring myself to paint her. Superb work, excellent use of acrylic - amazing sensitivity.

Thank you all for the lovely comments. Tara was that one very special pet you have in you’re lifetime. She was my very favorite dog and always will be. I am thinking of doing a full-face version of her in that new Open Acrylic paint. I do love painting dogs and really like doing the eyes.

Stunning painting. what a lovely tribute to Tara. jx

Everything about this portrait is beautiful. A lovely reminder of a great pal.

Does anyone know how you check out other peoples work who have left comments? Thank you.

I meant to comment on this earlier, but got side-tracked. It is beautiful. A very unusual composition, too, but so effective. The eyes are the windows to the soul ( I think I have got that saying right ) and this shows how true it is. This is a wonderful portrait, quite beautiful. Wish I had your talent with acrylics, gave up on them in sheer frustration. Thank you so much for the lovely comments you left in my gallery, much appreciated.

Makes me want to cry. So lovely.

Acrylic on canvas. This is my lovely dog Tara who I lost a while ago. She was almost 12 when she passed away.
