Worth the effort of all your struggles Pat - watercolour is not for me and I admire those who can use this medium

Agree with Heather. Watercolour is the most difficult of mediums but used proficiently, produces wonderful results. You have managed to produce a lovely y painting in spite of your struggles. Have you tried using pastels or acrylics Pat? They are much easier to handle and it’s so easy to rectify mistakes.

Thank you, Heather and Carole. I do prefer working with acrylic but had some success with my first foray into watercolours. They were both sunrise seascapes, so without pesky buildings to confuse things. I'm stubborn. Very much an 'I've started so I'll finish' person. I'll continue with the watercolours but little and not so often, I think.

I worked on this watercolour over 5 days. Original photo, using digital editor as stimulus. Finding watercolour very challenging. It's extremely frustrating to find that adding details after the paint is dry damages the paper. Masking tape lifting the earlier layer of paint, or a layer of paper. I bought low adherent. I think I will resort to masking fluid from now on, even though that's quite difficult to control. Repaired the damage with Gesso.
