Paul Talbot-Greaves Challenge Six - October 2017
Davinder Dhillon sent in this version of Paul's challenge saying: 'Having made a rough sketch of the image, I washed in the sky using watered down cobalt blue. I then blocked in the trees and leaf debris with masking fluid. The greenery was a combination of cadium yellow, raw sienna and hookers green. I mixed these in various tones to suggest contrasts in the foliage. I washed the bushes loosely to create a base and a busy effect. For the dark areas and shadows, I used cerulean blue and paynes grey. Then I removed the masking fluid and painted in the trees, predominantly with terra verte. The greenery was finished off with spattering to create random leaves. Finally, I painted the road with a combination of cobalt blue and Windsor red. The exposed white debris spots on the road were filled in with toned down mixture of cadium yallow and raw sienna'
