Be inspired by Turner - Glyn Macey's April challenge
Debbis Cullis has sent in her Turner inspired painting saying: 'I have recently received my 'Artist' magazine for April and as a result I have painted my version of a Turner inspired Sunset Sky and Treescape, after reading the article by Glyn Macey. I use a lot of acrylics usually because it is quick to dry but chose to use watercolours in the same way in a very fluid, loose style. I experimented with a sunset sky from my imagination using sea salt techniques, putting in a moon outline. I then painted the foreground again with sea salt layering the paint up about three times. I painted the horizon with trees and hedgrows, keeping them simplified and just hinting at leaves and branches. Then, I went back to the foreground and sprayed a splash technique. The colours I used were: Alizarin Crimson, Turner's Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Burnt Sienna and Sepia Brown. I enjoyed the challenge and the learning process and was pleased with my finished outcome.'
