Paul Talbot-Greaves Challenge One - June 2017
Bob Biggart sent in his version of Paul's challenge saying: 'In the reference photo, discernment of details in shadows beyond the gate, and those of the house/chapel in the shadows under the main pine tree was difficult. What I couldn’t see I left out (beyond the gate) or invented (the house chimney and roof).! ! The painting is a watercolour on a Saunders Waterford rough pad and measured 10 1/2” x 8 1/4”. The sky was Kings Blue mixed with Cerulean, with Cobalt Violet lower down. The darkest greens and shadows were Sap Green mixed with Payne’s grey or Burnt Umber. The starter colours for the palest greens were May Green, or Cadmium Lemon'
