Julie Bruce sent in her version of this month's exercise saying: 'This is painted in acrylics. I initally painted an underwash in red and then drew the outline of trees, wall etc. Some of the underwash is showing through but may not be obvious in the photograph. The main technique I used was scumbling with a brush but also used a damp sponge to get some of the smoother areas. I used a rigger to paint the branches and put some grasses in the foreground. I changed the tree on the left slightly to keep the viewers eye in the painting'
