I don't know if this is my favourite of the series, but it's certainly got to be up there among the best of them - I can feel myself walking this path, with the grass underfoot. I like that bold signature, too - and particularly the sharp colour, very typical of a time of year and of day.

Barry Baxter sent in his version of Paul's exercise saying: 'I love painting texture, light and shade. So couldn't resist the challenge of such a big foreground, and all those greens! I always use complimentary underpaintings with bold brush strokes combined with random use of knife, sticks etc to create perspective, distance and direction so your photo could easily have come from my own reference stock!'
