PTG Exercise 1 - Field Textures by Painters-Online Team
Alan Benton sent in his version of Paul's first exercise saying: 'I've used a mix of paints heavy body and regular. They're also a mix of Winsor and newton, daler rowney, and Amsterdam expert. I was particularly drawn to the angry sky and hoped I picked that up.. I've tried to build the field in the mid ground up with bright lemon and ochre glazes, it probably helped I was listening to eva csssidy singing field's of gold?. This process proved to me how the most simple of reference material can really be interesting if you just let go and immerse yourself in it.. The foreground is really using the heavy body with an impasto approach it's lovely using the raw material with the flicks and tricks of the knife.'
