Excellent attempt Helen, some nice features.

Full of wonderful texture and colour Helen, I like the format.

Might have a go tomorrow Helen, but it won't resemble the photograph by the time I've finished.

I agree with Carole, it's a great format and I love the depth in the foreground.

Hi Helen,
overall a very bold effort the use of colour is excellent the trees really work!
colour harmony throughout due to restricted colours.Keep up the good work

I really like the detail in the background contrasting with the freedom of painting in the foreground. A lovely combination.

Helen Jones is the first to send in her version of the second of Paul's exercises. 'I painted this on a reject watercolour painting on 30 X 28 cm 300lb Saunders Waterford paper, using various brushes and a palette knife. I found it difficult to achieve fine lines for the tree branches and made several attempts using a feather and acrylic ink. I need to acquire some more colours! My ground was painted in lemon yellow and yellow ochre I then mixed pthalo green with lemon yellow or intense violet for shades of green. Paul's photographs are very challenging but it's fun having a go'
