I like these two paintings because they're "dirty"! By which I mean not that you have a flourishing career as a pornographer ahead of you, but that you've painted these buildings and streets as they are - they've been there a long time, they're a bit fly-blown and shabby, but they have character. This sort of scene isn't unlike the seaside town near me - more interesting than beautiful, maybe, but so very well worth painting.

Hi Robert, Thanks for your comments – most welcome. I paint as I see not as the prospective purchaser imagines, maybe that’s why I don’t have a prospective purchaser!!!! The vast majority of successful city, village and seascape artists don’t paint what they see, as far as colours go, can you imagine a building as old as the Laurel looking like it’s just been build – no nether can I. I like to think my paintings are ‘honest’, just like your painting of No Man's Land Fort. A dirty rock and the angry dirty blue sea, that’s life................... The colours on the building to the left of the Inn have been created by several washes, allowing to dry then wetted again and lifted using tissue, this was repeated with each colour. Just wanted to see the effect, painting for me must be challenging. - I don’t like being stereotyped, bit of the square peg round hole syndrome.
