Nigel, thank you for your comment on my painting 'Bellagio' much appreciated. I didn't realise you have a lovely portfolio of paintings here. This kingfisher is really nice and I particularly like the way you have executed the background - so very well done. PS like Peter says your Poppy would make an excellent Batik - I like that too.

Thanks for your kind comments Jeannette, i thought you might like to know how the background was created.It was nothing more than two strips of card placed at angles to one another and then using a wet sponge to remove the paint in between them.The more you remove the greater the contrast in colours.

Hi Nigel this is so beautiful the colours are delicious the Kingfisher looks as if he/she is ready to take off it is full fo life...the background is so delicate not taking anything away from the bird...thankyou for imparting your technique on the background a very useful technique to know and one I wouldn't have thought off
