When I've painted doggy portraits, I've used either acrylic or, once or twice, watercolour. This is a very good piece in oil - love the way you've caught the doggle hair, AND - the metal elements. I've known various snobby people who assure us (as one memorably and very stupidly did on a C4 arts programme) that "real artists" don't paint, in that case, elephants. But of course, "real artists" paint whatever the hell they WANT to paint. Always ignore critics and art "experts", and you won't go far wrong. Fine portrait of a dog; well painted; caught his spirit: and we can't ask for more than that.
