1st attempt at Oil Pastels ........

Hi Donna its got a lovely modern feel to it, I do like it . Those oil pastels are not easy to use I used to use them way back I found them cumbersome. Well done.

Gorgeous vibrant colours Donna. You're braver than me as I have had some oil pastels for ages and haven't used them yet. Definitely not your last attempt!

Blimey, donna! You are brave!! You are not afraid to chuck yourself in the deep end, and that can only be good! Stressful, but good!!

Thank you Dennis, Adele & Bob so kind of you all to comment on this bit of !!!! Yes Dennis I did find them cumbersome and a bit messy too!!! Adele all this chat I have seen about pastels I was dying to give them a go......it was hard going they did not do what I wanted them to!!! They are not as easy as I thought they would be - I will probably have another bash at it tho. Thanks Bob don't know about being brave - stupid more like !!! Stressful most definitely!!!

Don't give up yet Donna. Looking forward to your next one and many more afterwards.

The ones I used Donna and what most of us are using at the moment is soft pastels also known as chalk pastels. Very like what was used on the blackboard in school. If you can't afford a set, you can buy individuals and make a little set for yourself.

I cannot get on with oil pastel Donna, but I use them for odd touches sometimes when finishing a painting. Nice blending on the bottom blue.

Please don't say this is your last try with pastels Donna, it's a lovely creative piece and you should be thrilled for a first go! I agree with Adele, you should give the soft pastels a try, I've never used oil pastels but don't think I would because of the reasons you have highlighted. Good work!

What about going back to this Donna and adding much more colour and also blending them together here and there. If this is on canvas or strong paper you could try to use a tiny bit of turps or Sansodeur to see what happens. Don't give up he oil pastels yet.

Thank you Henry, Carole, Fiona & Satu really appreciate the advice and I have another go ;-)
