Beautiful - lovely painting.

I agree with Kerina, beautiful and the background sets the woodpecker off - unlike my backgrounds which are usually a disaster. Lovely painting Neil.

Yes I agree, super painting. Almost has a phographic quality, with the detail in the foreground and the 'out of focus' background.

Ah, the bird I once described, in a moment of excitement, as a greater wooded spotpecker.... we have occasional visits from these chaps round here, and very striking they are. As is your painting - you've caught the bird in a very typical posture; the tree is as beautifully painted as the woodpecker.

Have only recently joined Painters on line and cannot believe that I have missed out on so much. I absolutely loved your pastel of the Cow and have enjoyed going through your portfolio. I also work in pastel and have only recently been introduced to the wonderful world of Oils - as forgiving as pastels - love it.
