This is the most arresting painting I have seen on here. What is your working method for a painting like this: photos? plein air? from sketch book studies or what? I also love oystercatchers. They remind me of a holiday I had on the very northern coast of Scotland.

Wow Rupert! Thanks for the lovely comments! I always work from photos as I like to be alone when I paint! I took the photo around the coast of Wellington, NZ, where we are living :)
