I see where you are coming from, but for me, the red paint on the face overwhelms and detracts from what otherwise is great portrait.

Tony: Thats how he was when I took the photograph and was reason I wanted to paint him.

I really like this and all the colours work very well - understand he's in national 'costume'.

I think it’s a cracking painting Mick, and probably more difficult to paint in a convincing way than a straightforward portrait. Like it!

Mick, as I said I do see where you were coming from. If something catches your eye, you do want to paint it as it is. I can almost see a forum discussion on portraits - reality versus artistic licence, though I don't think I will start it. Regardless of where one might stand on that, it is still a great portrait.
