Now retired after a career in art education and art software development, I have returned to painting. Photographic images are everywhere and I am interested in the layers of reality they present - particularly in off-guard, background and unintended elements that might be found in snapshots or in fleeting images grabbed from video. Starting with this imagery, I use various digital and physical media techniques to interpret and develop a painting in oils. Finished works try to achieve a new balance between found meanings/references and the documentary reality of the source(s). Portraits are generally painted on a commission basis. Giclee print reproductions are available. Contact me for details.
