BGH-GBH-Imminent Release by Mike Rome
Oil on board (framed) 200 mm x 300 mm 2013 This painting represents a glimpse through the padlocked cladding which surrounds the former Bristol General Hospital building in Guinea Street, Redcliffe. The Hospital has become the casualty itself over the years. It not only suffered WW2 bomb damage, which has been left open to the elements, but has also been architecturally abused with unsympathetic additions since. However, its rehabilitation is beginning, as developers work to restore all the original features and make sympathetic additions to provide new quality residential accommodation and enhanced views over the adjacent Bathurst Basin.
