A masterly account of this life study. Very fine work indeed

This is fabulous! Love the way you've acknowledged Leighton with the orange, but made it your own, so envious!!!

Superb painting with or without the drape

Thanks again Tom and to you too Debs and Pat.

Great portrait painting, the orange cover sets it on fire! Fine detail.

Thanks for your comments Carole

Thanks again Moira

Oil on board 510 mm x 405 mm 2011 The title of this work is the name of the sitter, a German au pair who was living with my next door neighbours and who agreed to help me out with the pose. I had intended to paint a version of "Flaming June" by Sir Frederick Leighton and was having difficulty with the girl's pose in the painting, so asked for Madeline's assistance. However, after sketching the composition, I decided to forget my initial plan and just paint a more modern version. I added the orange drapery as an acknowledgement to the original painting.
