Really like this one. It's kind of a gloomy painting (I mean that in a nice way!) It's a strong image, atmospheric and a pleasant change from all the "pretty" paintings. I'm always drawn towards slightly dark foreboding works and this one ticks all the boxes ! You've really captured the desolate atmosphere. This is how I see it anyway! I love it. Louise

Many thanks Louise for your kind comments, much appreciated. you are very perceptive. with does have a gloomy feel to it although the painting is enthused with light., I painted it on the spot with a dear friend who did a watercolour of the same view. Very sadly she was killed in a tragic car accident returning from this holiday. Her watercolour book perished in the explosive impact .

I'm so very sorry to hear about such a tragic accident and the loss of your dear friend. You must keep this extremely special painting Hopefully it will bring back happy memories of times spent painting together. I sincerely hope that I didn't upset you. It is a lovely painting and as I said, very special. Kind regards Louise

thanks Louise, it took rather a long time to surface from this whole awful episode particularly as her husband and three dogs also perished in the accident. The paintings particularly Estuary I which is in the Portfolio bring back good memories of times shared,

After a brief absence, I was taken by this painting immediately - had no idea of the terrible story behind it of course. It's extremely striking, and from a technical point of view I admire the use of scumbling, which enhances the quality of light.

thanks Robert as always for taking the time to comment, which I truly value. Got out and about in the last week or so, I don't mind the snow as it gives challenging opportunities but the cold wind is no fun when you are standing about for a couple of hours, Now launched a new spring series ...... thxs again

A beautiful piece that evokes serenity and atmosphere, So very sorry for the loss of your friend and her family.
