This has nice composition MIchael, with the classic s shape leading us through the village. To be honest I hadn't noticed the street sign until I read your description, so you succeeded in 'playing it down', it's also roughly on the golden mean, so it helps with the balance too.

A beautiful village scene Michael and I agree, the street furniture makes it alive as does the figure walking down the street. All in all a very attractive painting!

A lovely scene with the road leading you gently through this super village. I do like all the variation in colour in the foliage - makes a very interesting lead-in to the painting. Super work, Michael.

Great stuff, Michael. This is definitely your forte - superb use of washes and great atmosphere an palette.

Stunning work Michael, love it

Lovely work Michael, I personally love the street furniture, adds character to a charming scene. Thanks for your recent comments on my cartoons too, very encouraging - when can we expect The Bats ???lol

Glad you all like it - not the most paintable of villages and had a job finding a suitable view.

Your village scenes are charming Michael, beautifully painted and the sign posts, post boxes and a figure or two add to the composition. No surprise that you've been asked to do more.

I like the street furniture here Michael but know from experience that the local councils seem to stick the signs in awkward places so far as a person painting the scene is concerned. I move mine round a bit, miss it out altogether or make up my own. So far I don't think anyone has noticed but in a more accurate painting such as this one, I think it's best to include it.

Lovely composition Michael, including street furniture.

I've been asked for more village scenes so having to concentrate on them over the next few months after a bit of a lull - here's the third of the latest batch. There seems to be a bit of a debate over street furniture as to whether to leave it in or out - welI I think it adds something here - it would look less interesting without it but being central I had to play it down a tad or it would have cut the picture in half - discuss.
