I think this has come off very well Michael, I really like the shadow areas on the left hand tree and the cast shadow on the bridge from the other tree. I think we should all resolve to be more positive about our work this new year.

excellenty trees, and i like the soft reflection in the water. happy new year by the way.

Beautiful painting Michael, lovely soft reflection in the water of the bridge, understated masonary, brilliant tree's.....super composition altogether. Did I miss anything out?:)

This is a real eye-catcher, Michael. Love the way you painted the trees, beautiful greens and perfectly painted foliage. Just one word for it: stunning!

Thanks all - so glad you like it - would have liked the bridge to be a little less in width but too late now.

Agree with Mia about your foliage and I particularly like your treatment of the distant trees and trunks behind the bridge giving real depth to the painting.

Agree with all the comments Michael, a lovely painting, i love the colour of the shadows on the bridge and your foliage is ' from a struggling landscape painter' to die for!

I like the colour of trees, I try lots of way to make green, but still really difficult to me. Yours are always fabulous and make me encourage to try it these days.

Thanks so much Val, Glennis and Midori. It's strange in a way - whilst you kindly cooment on some of my techniques (which is so encouraging) I in turn admire many of yours. I guess we are all different and we all have our strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes I think its a pity we can't all get together.....

I like this one Michael, particularly the composition and the way you have balanced the scene, a really nice painting .

This is fabulous, Michael! Like everyone, I think you did a brilliant job with the trees. And I love your greens!

Beautiful. I too love the greens and the softness of the bridges reflection in the water. I'm going to try to do a few more landscapes this year. It's too easy to stay where you feel comfortable!

Thanks again to you all for taking the time to comment - much appreciated

This is my watercolour interpretation of the charcoal drawing which I posted last year. Did it as a demonstration which is not the ideal way of painting a masterpiece - not that I'm ever likely to paint one anyway.
