Simple but effective, love the glow in the water and on the mountains

Thank you Michael. I was looking at your painting and thinking the same thing about using watercolour. You have lovely washes here, clean, effective and not easy to achieve!

really translucent and loose painting :-) i really dislike running out of inspiration, you seem to have loads of it.......... do you have a favourite topic you prefer to paint? or do you like to paint anything and everything? :-) thank you for giving me such lovely comments :-)

My favorite in your gallery so you must be doing something right even if the inspiration is a bit low at the mo :)

Well if this doesn't clear the block nothing will Michael! It's a beautiful executed waterolour with a softness that illustrates your title perfectly. I also love the horizontal slashes of light.

Soft, clear, transluscent...yes and simple....Beautiful.

Beautiful as always, Michael. Your clear, translucent washes always bring out the green-eyed monster in me!

Thanks so much everyone - your encouragement is much needed at the moment and much appreciated

Simple (but we know it isn't really!) and very effective. Excellent sky washes and wet-in-wet reflections. I particularly like the play of light on the hills and the bright but not overstated colours in the middle distance. Great stuff!

Lovely delicate colours in the hills, balanced by the stronger tones of the trees and buildings.

You have certainly cracked with this one, great composition, just love the sky, mountains, in fact everything about it, stunning.

Just a perfect example of watercolour used properly - so light, transparent and very expressive. Actually, have you noticed, Michael, that your painting tones very nicely with Louise's which is next to it on the gallery - all those lovely simmering lilac shades...... are you both great minds thinking alike I wonder??

Very effective, still, quiet, calm and calming, and with great colour!

Thanks again for your comments. Thea, yes it is interesting to see the similarities with Loouis's work but also, in contrast, the difference in styles. Just shows what a great medium it is.

This is stunning in its simplicity Michael, and painted with such skill. I would hardly have recognized it as one of yours with those blues and pinks/purples - you'll surely be on a roll now, after this!

Love it !!!

Very good I like this with the translucent washes. Such pretty colours too.

You've got the warmth of the Med in this and that sky is just brilliant.

Love this minimalist painting Michael, and a lovely colour palette.

Thanks J, D, B, C, V, and D (sorry but I am a lazy typer) appreciate your comments. It's funny isn't it how it's the last minute, quick, spontaneous ones that often turn out the best.

Congratulations on this painting being chosen for one of the most viewed paintings of September :-)

Another simple composition done quickly and probably the better for it - did it to get me back into watercolours where inspiration has been at a bit of a low over the last few days
