A landscape after bierstadt by Michael Hanrahan
Bierstadt is a great inspiration to me and influence too. More than turner to be honest though so many of my pictures are turneresque. Turner seems to creep into my paintings and I swear most of the time the resemblance is unintentional. I suppose his manner and methods are so absorbed into the psyche of most landscape painters that even to paint a single cloud especially during a sunset it is often observed as turneresque. His influence is all consuming. Almost like the universal law of gravitation.
