I like the way you are developing this: keeping your ethereal touch yet adding something more. Are you glazing? Remember to be confident about when to stop!

Hi gudrun. Actually ive postponed glazing. I thought some extra colour was needed only now the light is harsher than before. I will put the painting aside for now and allow it to dry, then i'll continue with the next step in the process; and yes we all need to know when to stop and be confident about our decision.

Thankyou for your kind words by the way Gudrun.

... and I love the colours. I'm off to tinker with one of my oils.

You do that Gudrun and a pleasant days painting to you.

Cracking piece Michael mystical with echoes of Samuel Palmer

Thankyou dennis. Ive actually never heard of samuel palmer.

You have a minimalist style that works well. The palette is reminiscent of Renaissance. (I had a teacher who always said it takes 2 to paint a picture. One to paint, the other to say when to stop...)

Yes i agree. Thankyou Skylar.

Beautiful new style more figurative, Michael. I like the sky.

Thankyou cesare nice comment as always.

though i received some very positive comments on this painting i wasnt satisfied with it so set to work again, this time my aim was to enrich the colour plus add a few details like the foliage on the tree. The picture is still incomplete.

About the Artist
Michael Hanrahan

I love art but it's very much up and down as I go about my day to day life as a painter and often I really struggle to paint therefore I fall out with it. You're only as good as your last painting as they say. My greatest love is music and I prefer to write classical music for orchestra than paint…
