Man with cap and gold buttons by Michael Hanrahan

Oh, those eyes Michael, can't stop looking at this.

This is good Michael, a very intense gaze.

Thankyou heather. That's good to hear. Ive come to laying the canvas flat on a table and using very thin paint which I then go over with patches of thicker paint for various degrees of highlight. Its easier for me this way. Im more able to correct errors as they occur. The whole manner and style is to me very rembrandtian . Even the cap seems to quote his self portraits. I doubt that rembrandt would lay his canvas flat on a table and use very thin paint but it works out OK for me and like I said its easier to make corrections. I didn't use a reference for this picture.

Interesting Michael - this is exactly how I work and then often finish off with a number of different glazes
