I thin k it's turned out well Michael, as always a lovely capturing of light and atmosphere

I like this very much Michael. I agree with Heather, you have painted the light very well and it is very atmospheric. There is an indication of what I see as an arched bridge in the middle distance which is a great focal point.

Light beautifully captured.

The way you catch the light is, as always, superb Michael

Thankyou very much. Whenever I feel abit frustrated with painting i usually turn back to a turneresque style since it seems to come more natural than other ways of working. Detail especially realistic detail is not a strength with me. You have to enjoy what you can do rather than forever striving

A4 . I was pleased with this sketch enough to make a bigger copy of it on canvas board and actually regret painting on paper although I didn't do as good a job with the copy. Maybe the effects did have something to do with it being painted on paper. The paint glided better over the surface. I ofcourse applied a few coats of gesso to the paper first although come to think of it it was card not paper.

About the Artist
Michael Hanrahan
