Well, the trick with a painting that's hit its "ugly" stage, which most of them do, is to keep at it until you transcend it. I'm sure you could, and probably have; but there's a lot to be said for just saying what you want to say, and - stopping right there. It all depends on the painting, the scene, your mood at the time.

It's lovely and, again Robert gives super advice. Without a doubt I go through a process where I mess things up but then persisting mostly means I come out the other side with a better painting because of it. Some times, though, keeping it simple pays off as it has here.

I really like the lack of fuss and mess of drawing and I feel abit more freedom with brush than pencil or pastel. Doing 'finished' pictures is stressful for me and quite alot I much prefer what I've done after the first 15 mins which I then go on to ruin by about the 30 or 40 min mark.
