An excellent start Michael, you work so quickly, to me it looks almost finished.

Thankyou Lynn. I do paint quite quickly, it's more like a frenzy at times. Im very impatient and all too often I rush things simply to see results. I always take a deep breath before I start anything since my confidence is pretty poor and I doubt myself. Very often I compromise on quality by rushing so much and I do cut many corners aswell. I think it's best though to just accept the way I am. Ive fought my tendencies many times.

Looking good Michael.

A very atmospheric scene, Michael. It might very much be more than good enough already. In fact I think it’s really quite a special piece of work.

Thankyou stephen and thankyou ann that's nice of you to say and im glad you think so.

It's a beauty and those glazes (I love glazes!) work a treat. Glorious colour palette.

Beautiful, Michael - looks fine without further work.

It works already - of course you want to add to it, and you should, but the vision is already there. We all have our own ways of working - some take inordinate pains, some are seized by their idea and just steam into it: neither way is right or wrong, and nearly always, yours works for you.

Looking good, love the light shining through the trees and over the hill.

I began this today and I'll see how it goes over next few weeks. Its a work in progress in other words. I tried abit of a different approach, I began with very thin tones of grey then waited for it to dry. Then since the wait wasn't long I began to use oily glazes in local colour over what was basically a grissaile. Its a way many artists go about things but me being me , my methods are nearly always abit slap happy.

About the Artist
Michael Hanrahan

I love art but it's very much up and down as I go about my day to day life as a painter and often I really struggle to paint therefore I fall out with it. You're only as good as your last painting as they say. My greatest love is music and I prefer to write classical music for orchestra than paint…
