Nice one, Mia. I visited here many years ago and it is a fascinating place! I Like the subdued background, the limited colour palette and the impressive tree which holds the picture together.

This is lovely, Mia. I agree with all that Roger says (except that I have never been there!).

Beautiful :) I do like your delicate technique.

Your style is instantly recognizable as it light and delicate and suits this type of subject so well. Really beautifully painted and super pen work.

Like Thea says instantly recognisable as yours Mia, lovely understated washes and just the right amount of pen work. A delightful delicate painting.

A wonderful pen & wash Mia, love the faded back ground tree's, your light touch for the water and the super tree in the forground Brilliant!

I agree with everyone, works very well.

Thanks Roger, Ann, Louise, Thea, Val, Fiona and Stephen for taking the time to have a look and post a comment!

Beautiful pen and wash Mia, really well painted, lovely spot

Excellent stuff Mia, apparently the oldest man made bridge in England, I've heard say in the world. best Mick

Lovely composition, lots of depth and a great composition.

I think this works really well Mia, sometimes I find quick sketches work better than paintings you spend a bit of time on, like it, but the tree and foreground are super - p.s. and the rest of it as well of course.

Mia I should have said sketches SOMETIMES work better than finished paintings in my first comments-- apologies

Thank you all very much: Petra, Mick, Lesley and Graham, I highly appreciate your comments. Mick, on Wikipedia they say it is from about 1,000 BC, so you are probably right. And yes, Graham, sketches are often more spontaneous and lively than the paintings. That is why I always make my pen and washes on 300gr watercolour paper and don't always make a "real" painting of it.

Its lovely Mia ,I think one of your best , keep on digging out the holiday snaps :)

Lovely pen and wash painting and you picked the perfect spot - good cream teas too!

Beautiful painting Mia, a lovely reminder of your holiday.

Thanks William, Glennis and Carole for your positive, lovely comments!

This is absolutely beautiful, Mia! I really love your palette and admire your draughtsmanship tremendously, and this painting is a superb showcase for both!

The crisp touches of the pen work very well here - I particularly like the tree on the right and the detail beneath and around it: those "twiggy" touches are very effective.

Wow, all those positive comments! I am very grateful, Seok and Robert. Thank you very much!

So. so lovely Mia. I can't believe that was quick though !

Thanks Denise, I always appreciate your comments very much. And yes, it was quick, otherwise it wouldn't have been so spontaneous and instinctive (I think!). :) Mia

I love the delicacy in your pen work, Mia. A beautiful composition.

Thanks for your nice comment, Jennifer. For taking the time to have a look at my gallery and posting some comments.

This is a lovely painting.

Thank you very much Paula for taking the time to have a look and post a nice comment :)

Looking through my photo-album about our holiday in Exmoor, I found this picture of the Tarr Steps. Couldn't wait to make a quick pen and wash.
