You certainly capture mood and a time and place.

A superb painting and a reminder that all wasn’t so wonderful in the Victorian era.

You’ve really captured the harshness of the period and painted the scene with compassion.

Thanks very much. I find painting from a ‘difficult’ source (small, low resolution, monochrome) gives me more freedom to invent, and stops me slavishly copying a photo
