I've enjoyed your latest postings Matthew, lovely feeling of freshness.

I've tried watercolours based on drawing, and just going in with the brush - and on the whole, slightly to my surprise, I found my pencil based painting looked fresher than the other one. But I'm sure you're right that it's a good discipline. Like the freshness of this painting.

this is a plein aire watercolour painting of the view across the grass towards a clump of trees that were probably an old hedgeline. With the sun on the dry grass beyond them, this was a view crying out to be painted. I am trying at the moment to paint without drawing, not always succesfully! But I am sure it is a good discipline.
