The Zig Zag by Martin Rolfe
I painted this at my open Studio event at the weekend. It is based on a loose sketch of a fishing town in Scotland. I started with a layer of collage that represented the big shapes from the sketch. I added a layer of Acrylic ink and some Gesso to lighten the page and to create some texture for the rock walls. I slowly built up layers of colour and added some details. Not a bad days work!
