Oh yes very cute. Its lovely.

He is adorable, the texture of the fur is lovely.

looks rather as though he were caught in the act.... perhaps a more chewed appearance to the slipper, which looks a bit stiff, would have conveyed the effect even better? He's hardly got to grips with this yet.... and it's somewhat clog-like: I think you'd see more of the inside of the slipper: it stands a bit starkly against the dog. Like the sharp points of his eyes, and the malleable tongue, though.

Thank you for your comments Patricia, Lorraine and Robert. I am however not a professional artist, and this was copied from an art instruction book, which I have reproduced as best I could. The slipper is identical to the one in the instruction book (mine may be more blue though), and in fact was traced, cut out, masked out on the canvas, and painted in last of all. I am still learning (even in midlife) and maybe one day I will feel expert enough to post negative comments about another artist's work.

You don't have to be any kind of expert to make a comment; and all comments here are intended to be helpful rather than negative - although I do realize they can sometimes come across the wrong way, sorry if mine did! I think the slipper probably stands out because of the great care you took to replicate it - with a more free hand, I probably wouldn't have noticed the contrast. Hard, I know (and I rarely do) but try to relax when painting.... but don't mind comments; no one is marking your work; but if you get a comment, it means you've been noticed.

Oils 16" x 20" stretched canvas. This was one I just couldn't resist having a go at, he's just too cute!
