A very old keepsake of mine, from the Second World War, I believe. Given to me by my brother when I was at college, and I filled it with concrete after I gave up wearing them! One is a garden door step, the other a lamp. I wanted to point to the emotional roots of the object, without over-sentimentalising the subject. A satisfying and enjoyable exercise in detailed study
