I painted these wonderful delphiniums from a photo I took in the grounds of Alnwick Castle, Northumberland. It was gorgeous out in the sun & so when I painted this for the academy, I tried to infuse the fabulous light & warmth I felt. These delphiniums were dancing that day. To make this a painting achievable at one sitting, the backdrop is painted in acrylic, allowing the flowers & foreground to ‘pop’ once I got out the lovely oil paint!
