This was a commission completed in for me, a relatively short time just before Christmas. The composition is a combination of several images, both photographic and in the memory. I found the use of palette knife techniques really handy for the mountains. I struggled with the scrubland but ended up layering colour over colour over colour to get the effect of the red earth underlying everything and unifying the foreground. Though I was happy with the finished painting, I was apprehensive as to whether it would be what the client wanted, but she was very pleased, phew!
