I'm just starting with pastels. What sort of texture does that paper have? I've only done one on velour and what colour paper did you start with?

Hi again Diana, The paper has a slight abrasive surface and holds the pastel well. I think I used a dark beige colour paper. Hope this helps you.

This is so beautiful a dramatic sky your tree on the left - smashing.

Welcome to POL. These pastels are great, all three of them, can't choose one over the other so I'll leave my comment on the middle one! Love the light on the hillside, the dark cloud and your treatment of the foreground. Excellent. I'm a fan of soft pastels as well, it's the only medium I have any success of landscapes in. Looking forward to seeing some more.

An excellent painting and doesn't seem like pastel at all. Great clouds, tree and foreground grass. Well done

I love the cloud effect in this, i used to sell ice creams on Dartmoor & know it well the weather can change dramatically in a few minutes. Very well done

Many thanks everyone for your lovely comments. I have done this pastel 4 times for different people, and still have one myself.
