Love everything about this painting Manus, especially the rocks.

Fiona Thanks for your kind comments on my paintings, I used to know a Paul Phipps from school & art college in the 60s - 70s (I studied artchitecture) - any relation

Very nice composition. Lots of lovely colours

Hi Manus, thank you for your very kind comment on 'messy pen & wash', it seems the less time I take over a picture, whatever medium, the better it turns out and I don't mean in a technical sense. Re; Paul Phipps, my husband is the Phipps of the family and he heralds from Leicestshire. He is tracing his family at present and has got as far back as the early 1700's so far. There is a Paul Phipps but I don''t know very much about him. I'll ask and let you know. Where did you go to school, I'm gathering from most of your postings and name, you are based in Scotland. Thanks again for your comment, I'm looking forward to seeing your pen & wash sketches!!!

Hi Manus, it seems I was mistaken about a Paul Phipps....there is every other Phipps but no Paul. Sorry about that.

This is a wonderfull stretch of coastline with an equally inspiring hinterland with some of the most distinctive mountains in Scotland. I liked the lead in of the rocks and lines in the sands . I hope I also caught the fresh, bracing atmosphere.
