Striking image - unusual colour combination which has been used to great effect and succeeds in leading the eye right round the composition. The white buildings stand out so well.

Superb work, as usual, Malcolm. Can always recognise your inimitable style. Great composition and palette.

Super use of colour Malcolm.

Thanks for all your comments

I like it, especially the semi-loose style and the use of colour.

It's amazing how different people look from how you expect them to be - I don't know why, but I expected you to be a small, intense figure, slightly academic perhaps, pains-taking and precise..... And here you are, a big lad just retired from mining..... I wonder why I expected something so very different: I've a feeling it must have been the cling-film (make sense of THAT, if you can).

Anyway - your experience of paint is the mirror-image of mine, ie the exact reverse; I have trouble with transparent watercolour, and use it as a discipline to stop me getting lazy and resorting to fairly easy tricks. You have problems with opaque media which blot out the surface on which you're painting and the previous applications of colour. I have wondered if I should just not try to paint outside of my areas of (relative) expertise.... have you definitely abandoned acrylic? Don't think I'm ready to give up watercolour....

Anyway, fantastic painting above - it's the precision of your drawing and the incisiveness of your line that have always appealed most to me.
