Kay, thank you for your kind comments. The OCA course gave me structure to my work in that I had to meet deadlines, so had to be disciplined. I had one excellent tutor from whom I learned a lot particularly about composition, perspective techniques, light and shade etc.........I also had one not so good tutor who gave me no constructive help but oozed flattery and smarm.....so I was able to change him for the excellent one ( OCA was very helpful here). I didn't find distance learning an issue - maybe yu are thinking of giving it a go.

Kay what happen with OCA, I was so disgruntled with my first tutor that I let my work lapse for months, then one fine afternoon someone from OCA emailed me with their 'phone number. I contacted her and explained as loyally as I could what had happened she immediately asked me if I wanted a different tutor - I received fresh details and the tutor contacted me herself and I never looked back. But I was really low spirited about my art during those lapsed months. The only thing that kept me going was my local art group and other arty friends.
