Mike, thank you for your feedback on my attempt at a similar technique, I'd love to get to your level but I'll need plenty of practice yet! The use of ink in this fashion is perfect for subjects such as this......brilliant!

Hi , yes it works best when it is " contre jour" and you are painting shadow. The greater the contrast , the more effective the technique.. I haven't tried using the technique with acrylics yet. cheers Mike C.

not cross at all, hobbits et al abound in this country , we even have a few humans I believe. If you can see a hobbit , it worked.. I saw him late in the painting - and gave him a second leg ! cheers Mike C.
