This is lovely Lynne - your use of watercolour is so distinctive and the trees are really beautiful. I love the muted greens.

My motto in life is 'never apologize, never explain'. Not original, I got it from Disraeli. Didn't do him any harm. I like this painting for many reasons - it always helps when people don't paint tree trunks brown, to start with, but beyond that the colours are delicate and beautiful but not weak in any way, so you've kept the feeling of natural light which is so important in landscape - lose that and you end up with something looking like a stage-set. Do you always paint in watercolour? And if you do, is that deliberate? I ask this because I sometimes wonder if concentrating on one medium wouldn't ensure greater progress as an artist, rather than spreading oneself between three or four media (not that it matters in practice to me, because I don't think I could resist the lure of those other media: still, it's interesting!)

Thanks Robert. I keep coming back to watercolour, although I find it a hard medium to master, probably because I had some tuition from a really excellent artist, who was primarily a watercolourist. I will always aspire to paint in a similar style to him, as his use of broken subtle colour was wonderful. Maybe one day.... I do paint quite a lot in Acrylic, mixed media, and Acrylic inks. I have not got any oil paints, as they all dried up from neglect. So in answer to your question, I am hopelessly swayed by whatever paints I pick up first. Patchings this year will no doubt tempt me even further!

Lovely painting Lynne, particularly like the way you have got the tones right and managed to keep it low key.

Lynne - this is a lovely painting which demonstrates a real mastery of the medium. As for sticking to watercolours, when I started out I said to myself I would move on to other mediums when I had first mastered watercolours - needless to day I am still painting in watercolour!!

Beautiful painting and superb use of watercolour. I love it when people paint trees and foliage in other colours rather than just greens as it adds another dimension and softness. I stick to one medium - watercolour - just because it fascinates me in a way other medium's don't. I love the riskiness and unpredictability of it - do you feel like that?

This is really stunning, Lynne. Beautifully painted. I like it very much!

Thea, I am not in control of my watercolours at all! I go where they take me, and it is just that unpredictability that keeps us chasing the dream. I guess that if I ever become satisfied with my work, I will lose the thrill of the chase. Meanwhile I remain in a state of permanent artististic frustration, but there's just something about the way that paint and water flow into one another............

Lots of light...super watercolour Lynne.

Lovely colour and interesting composition,Lynne.

I love the sence of depth and dense forest. Beautifully and sensitively executed

This is beautiful Lynne. Love the light through the trees and the very lively foreground. Don't fret too much about the multiple postings - too many of us make the same mistake without intending to offend and without realising the impact. Your gallery is lovely and I'm glad it's up again.

Like this Lynne, and that is the fun of watercolours just let them do the painting on the paper for you with all these happy " ACCIDENTS " that happen when along the way that look really clever and accomplished, but you never admit to the viewer of the piece !!! dont really know if this happens with other mediums but I generally stick with my favourite medium which is watercolours, .

Trees, trees and more trees. I apologise to everyone for my faux pas in trying to post my lost portfolio back on in one go. Silly me...just didn't think. Don't want to upset my new found friends. One at a time!
