This young lady was abandoned by her parents at birth and was hand reared by the staff and volunteers at Umkhondo Big 5 Wildlife Volunteering at the Garden Route Game Reserve South Africa. My daughter, Claudia, was one of those volunteers during her Gap Year after leaving school. Ayane is 5 years old now, has been successfully returned to the reserve and has found a mate of her own. I painted her in oils from one of Claudia’s photos. Oil on canvas.
