Bumble bee

Beautiful use of watercolour.

I could at one time, name most of the bumblebees by their latin name....I'm a bit rusty these days. I recognise this as a super little study though.

Beautifully done - and they are getting more rare, which will be a huge loss to us if they go altogether: we still have a fair number of bees down here in the far south of England, but nowhere near as many as there were - which is sadly true of birds as well.

Just to say I have seen quite a few bumble bees already in Derbyshire which was very pleasing. Not today though as its snowing!

Very skilled work with the medium. A member of our art club paints nothing else but all the species of bees, actual size in watercolour on calf vellum. Something I could never do even as a young slow hand man.
