I love those blues and greens in the backgrounds and your watercolours are so vibrant. Had a good browse through your gallery and I love it, especially the litle hidden house and the deer oh and the pen and ink - in fact I love them all and am inspired by it :)

Thank you Norah I always feel quite proud when someone tells me that they are inspired by my work. My advice is, Paint every day it's practice that improves your work. I try to pick up a brush every day even if it's only for 5 minutes. The more you paint, the better the results. I'm going to see if I can find anything of yours.

Maureen thank you so much for your comment on sweet pea - all the watercolours in my gallery are my own from sketches and photos and I love watercolours but have been doing sort of misty, atmospheric ones since starting last year. had just been trying oils again and found them so messy that I just got fed up and did a copy for fun, have done lots of flowers but have given most of them away so must do some more now after looking at your gallery. Thanks again for taking time to look

Beautiful Maureen the background is lovely so different from the norm...you are right about painting every day...I'm trying to find the time to do a little every other day at the moment...but time is of the essence

The horse looks as though he is on centre stage & the background is superb.......keep up the good work

Watercolour on Bockingford 140lb.Not. 8"x 12". Homework project for Patchings Summer Course. I really enjoyed painting this. Don't usually do animals but the first one I ever painted was in oil and many years ago. The background is fascinating, isn't it. Lots of lifting out and negative painting.
