Really beautiful, love the sun hazing through the steam.

ah lovely Libby, looks like a class 24.

Please excuse my ignorance Andrew - what is a 'class 24'. I am assuming it is a type of steam train. Thank you for your comment though - much appreciated.

Great painting, Libby - wonderful light; shows the power of glazing. Is there a spot light behind the painting: ;-)

Thankyou for your lovely comment Jorgen - that light at the back is actually in the painting - it is the sun rising behind the mountain. Glazing can produce the most amazing results and sometimes by accident!!!!!

This painting has been done as a Tri-panel - it started its life as an Acrylic and the colours were very bright. My art teacher in SA suggested that it would look so much better as an oil so put down a glaze over the whole thing and then started to re-work it in Oil. What a difference it made to the whole feel of the painting - it started to get an atmosphere which was lacking as an Acrylic. I much prefer this result.
